Jay's Story
by his sister, Bonnie
My Mother, Minnie Brown, sums up JJ’s story perfectly: “J.J. was a delightful energetic
child who brought a whole new dimension of love to our home. He immediately reached
out to grasp the world around him with both hands. His dynamic spirit brought him many
adventures, and best of all, many friends.
There was never a challenge too big for J.J. He gave every day his full attention. He was
always making plans, setting goals, and dreaming big dreams.
His laughter still rings in our hearts and his courage still inspires us to look for the good in
every day.”
My brother, James Junior, passed away on
March 1, 1991. When cancer attacked his
body at eight years old, he fought back with
incredible courage and valor. JJ’s life and
early death catapulted me, at an
impressionable age, into a Divine awareness
of existence. He lived more, loved more, and
laughed more in ten years than most people
do in a lifetime. In fact, I often feel his
exuberant, relentless spirit around me He has
been present throughout the entire process of
bringing FirstCauseHelp from a mere thought
into this experience of reality.
